A George II walnut longcase clock
Peter Parquot, London; second quarter 18th century
The feather-banded case on later skirted foot, breakarch rectangular trunk door with brass escutcheon, gilt-brass capped ¾-columns supporting an arched top, the gilt dial signed Peter Parquot London within a circular engraved signature plaque in the arch flanked by dolphin spandrels, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, decorated calendar aperture and ringed winding holes, mask-and-foliate spandrels, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement
