A 12½-inch (31.8cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve coloured printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the equator graduated in degrees, the oceans showing ocean currents, cable routes and steamship routes with ports of departure and arrival and journey time in days, the continents with some nation states outlined in blue, green and yellow, showing rivers, mountains with height in metres, caravan routes and the Great Wall of China, The North and South Poles labelled with dates for important expeditions, raised on ebonized baluster turned column and plinth base -- 21¾in. (55.6cm.) high

Lot Essay
The inscription at the South Pole on this globe Amundsen 14.12.11 and the presence of the Austro-Hungarian Empire would suggest a date of manufacture between 1912 and around 1914.
