The cannelee case decorated with raised trailing floral designs in polychrome against a royal blue ground, with conforming mask to the white enamel Roman dial with Arabic five minutes, blued spade hands, with alarm dial below, the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to the bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on bell to the backplate stamped for J. Dejardin and numbered 1769

Lot Essay

This style of enamelled decoration is unusual. A carriage clock with conforming ornamentation and colours is illustrated in Derek Roberts Carriage and Other Travelling Clocks, Schiffer 1993, p.179, fig.11-4.
