An Austrian brass grande sonnerie carriage clock with calendar and alarm for the turkish market

The rectangular case with engine-turned gilt mask, beaded bezel to the silvered chapter ring with Turkish numerals, blued moon hands, the engine-turned centre with plain alarm dial with Arabic numerals, setting arbor below, with apertures above for revolving dials for day of week, date and month, each with Turkish script, the thirty-hour four train movement with cylinder escapement with plain balance rim vertically positioned on the backplate, strike/repeat on two bells with alarm on further bell to the base

Lot Essay

The strike on the present clock is in the Austrian fashion. The quarters are struck first on one bell and then the hours on another lower-pitched bell. At the hour, four quarters are struck prior to the new hour.
