Two Turkish Jambiyas
19th Century
The first with fullered double-edged blade damascened in gold with panels of foliage and Arabic inscriptions in verses in praise of the dagger on each side on the forte, the waisted hilt and wooden scabbard entirely covered with white metal embossed and chased with triangular designs of flowering foliage on the inside, and set with numerous pieces of fluted coral and turquoise beads in filigree mounts on the outside; the second with curved double-edged blade damascened in gold with panels of Arabic religious inscriptions on each side at the forte, the hilt and wooden scabbard entirely covered with silvered white metal embossed and chased with foliage, and set with pieces of fluted red coral on the outside
