A finely engineered exhibition standard 1in:1ft scale model of the M.E. single cylinder beam pumping engine,
built by G. Thomson, with cylinder 1¼in. bore x 2½in. stroke, drain cock, cylinder head lubricator, inward facing valve chest with separate steam ways, studded stuffing boxes, inlet manifold with flanged joints, main stop and governor valves, delicate parallel motion with barrelled radius and anchor linsk, drop links with gibbed and cottered bearings, shaped beam supported in trunnions and mounted on a single centre column, rod driven feed pump, barrelled fluted connecting rods with gibbed and cottered big and little ends, webbed crank, lift off eccentric rod, gear driven Watt governor and linkage, multi-rope pulley and spoked flywheel, finished in dark maroon and polished brightwork and mounted on a wooden display base with handrails and containing a tooth belt drive mechanism to the crankshaft -- 14 x 21in. (35.5 x 53.3cm.). Brass framed glazed cover, handle for turning the engine.
