A paper label on the base of the dish is inscribed in ink Exhibited and described at lecture (by Soame Jenyns Br. Msm.) delivered to Oriental Ceramic Society, London, 9/12/37. A round paper label is printed Peel Park Museum, Salford.

There is a number of dishes inscribed with the dates Genroku 6, 8 or 12. Current opinion is divided between ascribing the dishes to the late 17th century or to a revival in the late 19th-early 20th century.
