Rivington, 1802-1808. 5 in 3 volumes, 8 (226 x 136mm.) 120 hand-coloured engraved plates by and after Donovan. (Occasional light browning to plates.) Mid-19th century green half-morocco, spines gilt in six compartments with raised n=bands, lettered in the second, numbered in the third, the other compartments with repeat decoration around a large central fish-tool, g.e. (spines slightly faded and a trifle rubbed). Provenance: Troy Young Men's Association (library labels); Troy Public Library (library labels, discreet ink stamps on titles).

First edition. The finely coloured plates, some hightened with gold and silver, depict all of the common British fish species as well as a number of rarer visitors: sun-fish, king-fish, electric-ray, and others. Nissen ZBI 1141. (3)
