Blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter A for 1753-1754 with a dot above within and to each side, incised 3
Of barrel form with loop handle, the finial as a gilt white flower, painted in colours with birds in flight reserved on the dark blue ground within a gilt trellis cartouche issuing flowering vines, the cover with flower finial and gilt with a flowering garland

Lot Essay

The mark on the present pot, which combines the four-dot mark used prior to the advent of the letter system and the letter A for the first year in which the system came into use, indicates that the piece must have been made in the first half of 1753.
