CIRCA 1740, ATTRIBUTED TO GILES GRENDEY
The broken triangular pediment with urn-form finial and dentil-moulded cornice above a pair of doors with later bevelled cartouche-form mirror plates, the interior with shelves and compartments, the slant lid enclosing a fitted interior with drawers and pigeonholes, above four graduated drawers on ogee bracket feet, decorated overall with berainesque strapwork, chinoiserie figures, pagodas and mythical beasts, one drawer with paper label inscribed in ink 1260 (minor restoration to decoration)--93in. (236cm.) high, 47in. (120cm.) wide, 26in. (66cm.) deep
