Of oval section decorated with scholar's objects in iro-e takamaki-e, inlaid soft metal, kirigane and aogai on a nashiji ground, on one side a tall, curved-leg stand supporting an inlaid soft metal shishi, representing a bronze censer, a large russet-colored teapot inlaid with soft metal leaves, and a black teabowl, on the other side a hanging scroll, inlaid soft metal feather and a vase of flowers, all implements for the tea ceremony, the scroll image formed of a rectangular lacquer plaque inlaid in soft metal with the figure of Fukurokuju and his deer and the mounting of the scroll patterned with colored and aogai medallions and inlaid ivory scroll ends, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with an ivory manju netsuke inlaid in mother of pearl and horn with tea implements and a large bead-form cloisonne enamel ojime--3 5/8 in.
