The blade shobuzukuri, koitame hada with ji-nie, suguha hamon of nie, o-suriage nakago, 9in. (22.9cm), in its black lacquer saya decorated with a pine branch in gold lacquer, all silver mounts: fuchi-kashira with an eagle and monkey in silver takazogan, copper and gilt details, signed Katsuhei, wari-kogai inlaid with a hawk in copper, gilt and shakudo, signed Katsuhei, copper and silver menuki of snakes signed Hagiya Katsuhei, kozuka with an eagle in silver takazogan, kurikata carved with flowers, uragawara chiselled with waves, silver kojiri chiselled with a waterfall and with a tiger in shakudo and gilt takazogan, 19th century
