AN EXPORT CABINET
Momoyama Period (late 16th Century)
Decorated in gold hiramaki-e and inlaid with mother of pearl, with panels of chrysanthemums and fuyo to the sides, the hinged drop front, opening to reveal a series of drawers, decorated with doe and stags among paulownia, surrounded by a band of chrysanthemum flower- heads and foliage, engraved copper gilt fittings, some old wear and damage
