A Meissen figure of Bacchus
Circa 1750, blue crossed swords mark
Modelled by J.J. Kändler as an element from a centrepiece, Bacchus scantily draped in a lion's skin, seated astride a barrel and holding a goblet and cover and a fruit, a green flask being filled from the barrel, another flask and a tambourine at his side, on a scroll-moulded base enriched in gilding and applied with coloured flowers (slight chip to footrim at back)
