A pair of Meissen documentary dated chinoiserie coffee-cups and saucers
1739, blue crossed swords marks, the saucers with Dresden./17.39., gilder's 26. to all pieces, Pressnummer 6 to cups and Dreher's ** to saucers
Painted with Orientals at discussion among vases, flowering plants and furniture within circular double line concentric bands and elaborate gilt scroll and diaper borders, the lower parts of the cups and the undersides of the saucers with stiff leaves with gilt veins, the cups with moulded double-scroll handles (star crack to centre of one saucer, one cup with rubbing to gilding of rim, some very slight rubbing to gilt veins) (2)

A similar documentary teacup and saucer was sold in these Rooms on 5 July 1966, lot 74; and another coffee cup and saucer from the Collection of Baronne Alix de Rothschild on 28 June 1976, lot 160. Another was in the Gerhardt Collection.
