The hood with later caddy top and later stepped section below, later turned columns, glazed side panels, with concave throat mouldings, the trunk door with brass-lined lenticle (glass lacking) and reserves of bird and flower marquetry, with moulded frame, on shortened plinth with later skirting, the 12in. dial with mask and foliate spandrels and with foliate engraving to the border between, silvered 2¼in. wide chapter ring with outside minutes, half hour and half quarter hour markers, signed John Webster London, the matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring with intervals of 5, ringed winding holes and date aperture with hatch engraved chamfered border, later hands, the five pillar (one now lacking) movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; movement and dial associated to case, case with restorations and replacements to veneers -- 92¼in. (232.5cm.) high
