In 1956 the Miclec Communications plant of Poland started production on a new 'Peoples Car'. Influenced greatly by the hugely successful Goggomobil Limousine, the Mikrus finally came into production in 1958 after two years of numerous prototypes; just 1300 cars were produced in all, as the chosen market was for a select elite with the price being equivalent to £5000, an immense sum of money at the time. Of the original number produced only four remain in the world, making the car extremely rare and an interesting part of Poland's political and motoring history.

The MR 300 is powered by a 293cc two-stroke engine with transmission through a four-speed gearbox. Mechanically the car is sound although the two-door steel body requires attention and would benefit from a full restoration in due course; the body is relatively free of corrosion, so often found in Eastern European motor cars.

The silver exterior is complemented by an elaborate interior of homesewn patterned cloth materials, the rear squab remaining original. Some other interior switchgear is non-original to the car but despite the relatively crude appearance it would make the basis for a proper restoration. It is certainly a rare model.
