A pair of Japanese gilt-bronze tapering oviform vases
with mythical beast head handles, decorated in silver, gilt and copper takazogan with a bird in flight before blossoming branches, the reverse with peony and stylised flowerheads -- 15in. (38cm.) high, 19th Century, (rubbed areas).
