Chancery 2° (280 x 201mm). Collation: a-i6 k4 (a1r title, a1v blank, a2r text and with commentary surround, k4r colophon, quire register, k4v blank). 58 leaves. 44 lines and headline. Type: 1:80R, 3:108R. Woodcut white-on-black and outline historiated initials. (Occasional staining, heavier in d4 and g1, small ?stamp cut away from final leaf, a few headlines just shaved.) English c.1820s red straight-grained morocco, roll-tooled border in gilt and blind on sides, gilt spine with pointillé tool, lilac endpapers, gilt edges, padded out at end with paper watermarked 1823 (somewhat rubbed at extremities, light stain on front pastedown). Provenance: early marginal annotations; [Major W.H. Coltman of Daljarrock, Girvan, Ayrshire, sale Sotheby's, 20 May 1947, lot 333, £7 to H. Commin].
