A German (Nuremberg ?) Shot-Proof Target
Circa 1600
Made from a single very heavy steel plate, originally blackened, and of flattened rounded conical shape, the rim with narrow flange (slight damage) and bordered by brass-headed lining-rivets (one missing) with rosette-shaped brass washers (mostly damaged or missing) and with circular rivets for the bosses (missing), later riveted central spike of faceted onion-dome shape, struck with the Nuremberg (?) town mark near the edge, and a single proof shot mark
