Lot Essay

Private George McCann was born in County Armagh and enlisted in the 95th Regiment at Waterford in January 1805. In his subsequent career of 15 years with the Colours, he served in America in addition to the Peninsular, and was wounded by a 'gunshot in the left breast' at New Orleans in December 1814. McCann was discharged in May 1821.
