by Jean-Georges Rémond, marked, struck with the Geneva town mark, with the restricted warranty mark for gold, French departments 1809-1819 and an unidentified mark
Rectangular box with rounded corners, the cover inset with a rectangular sablé gold plaque applied with raised silver-mounted scrolling initials 'JM' studded with old mine-cut diamonds, framed by a stamped gold mount with polished borders, flanked by vertical frosted gold bands stamped and engraved with trophies of Medicine, Astronomy, Music, Painting and Gardening, parcel enamelled in opaque blue, the four side panels and base engine-turned with a horizontal zig-zag pattern of wavy reeding, the base with stamped floral gold spandrels in the corners, the matted gold borders stamped with parcel-enamelled trailing foliate scrolls, the rounded corners of the sides stamped with palmettes parcel-enamelled in dark blue on matted gold rectangles, the inside of the cover later fitted with a mirror
