Lot Essay

The proceeds from the sale of 'The Gardening Bear' will be donated to The Greenfingers Appeal.

The Greenfingers Appeal

This is the horticulture and gardening industries charity initiative. Money raised through the appeal will be directed towards the maintenance, provision and enhancement of gardens at the 21 Children's Hospices in the UK, dedicated to caring for children not expected to live beyond the age of 19. Whilst typically the children are too ill to get actively involved, the grounds of a hospice can play a vital role as a place of peace, solitude and calm for the parents, friends and relations - a place of spiritual repair and reflection. A percentage of the sale of the rest of this limited edition will also be donated to this cause.

This is a rare opportunity to aquire a No.1 Steiff bear and help a good cause at the same time. The first three examples of a Steiff limited edition are normally kept in Steiff's archive.
