A French fusee cutting engine of complex construction
Third quarter 19th Century
Comprising head stock and tail stock with associated runners for holding fusee blank, and to the rear the fusee groove-cutting tool chariot kept in tension against an adjustable sliding brass sector controling the pitch of the fusee grove during cutting procedure, tension on the fusee chariot and the adjustable sector controlled separately via two barrels fitted with mainsprings, one for the chariot and one for the sector, the whole with three adjustable screw feet
