The case inlaid with bird and floral marquetry to the plinth with later bun feet and in D-ended panels to the trunk door with lenticle, (later hinges), the forward sliding hood now cut with a door with twist columns and later sound fret, the moulded caddy top with similar marquetry inlay, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Edmund Day London on the silvered chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the matted centre with ringed winding holes, seconds ring and decorated calendar aperture, mask-and-foliate spandrels, the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell; possibly associated
