A St. Cloud silver-mounted snuff-box
Circa 1748, the contemporary silver mounts Paris, with the charge and décharge of Antoine Leschaudel, 1744-50 and indistinct maker's mark
Modelled as a dog with pointed snout, brown markings and a yellow collar recumbent on a mound base with tufts of grass and a flower in relief, the cover painted in the Kakiemon palette with an Oriental seated before a vase of flowers and a pavilion, the interior to the cover with an insect beside a flowering branch issuing from rockwork (the cover with very slight rubbing and scratching)
