An extremely fine exhibition standard 2in. scale model of the twin cylinder ploughing engine originally built by John Fowler & Co. Leeds to a design by J.Alison, Reigate
and modelled by H.D. White from his own researches with brazed copper vertical firetube boiler with smokebox mounted superheater coil and regulator and fittings including water and pressure gauges, twin safety valves with spring balances, blower, whistle, water lift, clack and blowdown valves. Engine details include cylinders approx. 1in. bore x 1½in. stroke with inward facing valve chests, manually operated drain cocks, vertically mounted bar type crosshead guides, gibbed and cottered big ends, Stephenson's link reverse, mechanical lubricator, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass and overmounted crankshaft with curved spoked flywheel and dog clutch operated crownwheel and pinion drives to both rear axle and vertically mounted winding drum. Chassis details include hand wheel, gear and rod operated steering, spoked straked wheels, forward mounted water tank with filler cap, water lift, two tool boxes, coal bunker, rear mounted gear driven winding drum with steel rope and eccentric driven coiling mechanism, two speed gear drive to rear wheels via adjustable band drives inside each wheel. Further details include fine rivet detail, neat pipework with flanged and bolted joints, handlever and gear driven directional adjustment for the winding drum with spring loaded lock for the hand lever and much other fine detailing, finished in black with finely drawn red and yellow lining and etched makers plates -- 20 x 40in. (50.7 x 101.6cm.) Fitted carrying box, documentation.
