A German oak quarter-chiming mantel clock, early 20th century
The architectural case modelled with brickwork and foliate capped fluted pilasters (one lacking base moulding), with sound fret doors (one damaged) to the sides, the rectangular brass dial with mask spandrels and silvered chapter ring with matted centre, subsidiary slow/fast and chime/silent rings above, the twin barrel movement with anchor escapement quarter chiming on two gongs, stamped on the backplate for Winterhalder & Hofmeier -- 21in. (53.5cm.) high
