A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1785
The case with brass ball and spire finials resting on fluted blocks above a breakarch hood with glazed side panels, with plain brass-capped pilasters to the rear and outset brass stop-fluted columns to the front, the breakarch trunk door with moulded frame and flanked by brass stop-fluted chamfered angles, on stepped plinth with quatreform mouldings forming a front panel and raised on an apron (possibly re-built), the 12in. wide silvered dial with engraved chapter ring and subsidiary seconds and date rings to the centre, signed Rich.d Winch Maidenhead, blued steel hands, with strike/silent ring to the arch above, the four pillar rack strikng movement with anchor escapement -- 93in.
