Late Safavid Iran, 17th Century and later
Manuscript on gold-sprinkled ivory paper, 315ff. with 14ll. of elegant black naskh, gold-roundels between verses, sura headings in gold naskh within panels decorated with gold leafy meander, remargined in the 19th century with the name of the sura in red within a gold cartouche and commentary in black shikasteh in gold cartouches, very fine 19th century illuminated bifolio, final folio with colophon erased, generally very good condition, in Ottoman style red morocco binding with gold tooled decoaration and watered paper doublures
