Manuscript on cream paper, 279ff. with 14ll. of black naskh, gold rosettes between verses, sura headings in white on gold and polychrome illuminated panels, similarly illuminated marginal medallions marking verse count and juz, opening illuminated bifolio, final folio with colpohon signed by the scribe Ibn Muhammad Mu'min Muhammad Sadiq al-Isfahani and dated Ramadan 1089 in Isfahan, old repairs, folios loose from binding, later brown morocco binding

Lot Essay

An endowment note on the opening flyleaf by a princess, probably the daughter of Muhsin Mirza, the grandson of Fath 'Ali Shah states that the Qur'an is to be recited and then kept in the family. It is dated Ramadan 1295 (August/Spetmeber 1878 AD).
