Lot Essay

Major-General Henry Thomas Rogers, who was born in 1830, attended Addiscombe as a Cadet between 1848-49 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, Madras Sappers and Miners, in December of the latter year. Present at the capture of Rangoon on 12.4.1852, he was subsequently employed in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel as Principal of the Madras Civil Engineering College, and later as Superintendent of the Revenue Survey, finally retiring as Hon. Major-General in July 1866. The General died in 1898.
