RARE FIRST EDITION. It contains virtually all of Brevio's work; only the novelle were reprinted three centuries later. Author, poet and moral philosopher, Brevio was closely associated with Bembo, Della Casa, Berni and, in particular, Aretino. Interestingly, he was charged in 1547 with plagarazing a story by Machiavelli in his "Belfagor arcidiavolo". EDIT on line 7569; Gamba 1272: "molto raro".
