(5.1cm.); yamagane [bronze] mokkogata with vertical grooving, inlaid with gilt paulownia crests, tachikanagushi work, 16th century, 2½in. (6.4cm.); broad oval, migakiji, a tiger in gilt takazogan [relief inlay], the rim gilt, 2½in. (6.4cm.); broad oval, brass inlaid with a stylised chrysanthemum, flowers and pine cones, later inlaid with insects in iroe takazogan [soft-metal relief inlay], Heianjo school, c. 1600, 2 7/8in. (7.3cm.); large broad oval, lightly chiselled with Zodiac animals, signed Nobuie, 17th century, 2¾in.
