All iron and 19th century unless otherwise stated: Oval, carved overall with stylised variations of the character kotobuki [longevity], signed Yoshu Matsuyama no junin Shoami Moriyoshi saku [made by Shoami Moriyoshi, a resident of Matsuyama in Yoshu] and dated An'ei 9 (1780), 2 7/8in. (7.3cm.); rounded square, a hishigata [lozenge-shaped] crest in yo-sukashi [positive piercing], Owari school, 17th century, 2 9/16in. (6.5cm.); oval, formed as a mitsu-domoe [three-comma motif], brass hirazogan [flat inlay] of leaves and butterflies, Heianjo school, 17th century, 2 13/16in. (7.1cm.); broad oval, lightly chiselled with Mount Fuji and pine branches, silver detail, inscribed Higashizaka Myoju, 2 15/16in. (7.5cm.); oval, peonies and leaves in yo-sukashi, silver and gilt details, Bushu work, 3in. (7.7cm.); broad oval, tsuchimeji [hammered ground] lightly carved with a boat, silver and gilt details, full Kaneie signature, 17th century, 2¾in.
