A pair of ivory Shibayama style tusk vases
19th Century
decorated in mother-of-pearl, stained ivory and tortoiseshell, each with a pair of birds perched on a tree among prunus branches and foliage, decorated to the reverse with leafy branches and insects in flight, tortoiseshell tablets signed Masayuki, carved and pierced wooden stands -- 15¾in. (40cm.) high, total height, (two pieces of inlay missing, age cracks to the top).
