The hood with tracery arch top flanked by crocketed spires, with matching arch sound frets to the sides, with lobed quatrefoil frame to the hood door and conforming tracery arch trunk door, the latter with blind fret panels above, the base with quatrefoil recessed panels and flanked by faceted angles, the lobed quatrefoil silvered dial with conforming slip, with engraved border to a chapter ring with Gothic style chapters, strike/silent lever above 60, the plain centre with subsidiary seconds ring and signed J.W. BENSON 62 & 64 LUDGATE HILL LONDON BY SPECIAL WARRANT TO HER MAJESTY, blued steel hands with trefoil hour, the substantial and high quality movement with five back-screwed and front-pinned pillars, deadbeat escapement and wheels with six crossings, strike on gong, with brass securing screws to the seatboard, with spot-finished plates, the backplate with further punched signature and numbered 6247, with fine calibration to the steel rod pendulum with mercury jar, suspended from a brass block secured to the backboard
