The case with inverted bell top above silk-backed brass running scroll sound frets, with brass ball finials to the top and to each angle, the sides with brass handles above doors with arched brass fish scale sound frets, lacking glass to rear door, with large brass Doric columns to the recessed front angles and quarter frets to the front door, the base lined with brass to the front and sides, on brass ball feet, the repainted dial decorated with floral spandrels and with musical trophies to the arch, the white centre signed John Buckley Ashton Underline (sic), the arch with ten tune selection (104 Psalm, 100 Psalm, Garry Owen, Soldiers Joy, Deyins dream, Richers Hornpipe, Haste To The Wedding, Paddy Whack, In Own A Hand, What can The matter Be), with subsidiary dials for strike/silent and chime/silent, with gilt metal hands (later brass tune selection hand), the substantial triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement with hour strike on one bell and hourly music on thirteen bells via fourteen hammers, with 9¾in. pinned cylinder, with engraved borders and movement securing brackets to the backplate with repeat signature and pendulum holdfast, the calibrated pendulum with rating nut and engraved bob, the case formerly ebonised
