A Victorian Scottish mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, mid 19th century
The hood with arched cresting and Gothic arch side panels, with bone escutcheon to the rectangular trunk door, on plinth with wavy apron, the 14in. wide white dial with painted scene to the arch entitled WALLACE Killing HESILRIG, the spandrels painted with portraits of LD DUNCAN, LD. NELSON, BURNS and TANNIHILL, with subsidiary seconds (lacking hand) and date rings to the centre, brass hands, rubbed signature for JNO. DONALD AIRDRIE, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 84in. (213.5cm.) high
