A Victorian mahogany longcase clock, mid 19th century
The wide-bodied case with swan-neck pediment and outset baluster columns to the hood, conforming inset columns flanking the short trunk door, the plain plinth raised on bracket feet, the 14in. wide white dial painted with a shepherdess in the arch and with spandrels depicting an open Bible and crucifix, Roman chapter ring, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, brass hands, indistinctly signed, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and shouldered plates -- 91in. (231cm.) high
