A Scottish mahogany and inlaid longcase clock
The hood with foliate carved caps to the swan neck pediment, later brass urn finial and later section to rear, outset plain brass-capped columns, the horned arch trunk door decorated with chequer inlays, flanked by fluted pilasters, with conforming inlays to the stepped plinth, the 12in. wide cut-away brass dial with foliate spandrels to a brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted and foliate scroll engraved centre with engraved subsidiary seconds ring and square date aperture, black painted hands, the arch with circular plaque signed John Hamilton Glasgow, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, seatboard partially lacking; case probably associated to dial and movement, 19th century -- 84in. (214cm.) high
