A japanned longcase clock
The case with fretwork panel to a pagoda top hood, elongated urn finials and outset columns, with breakarch trunk door, on stepped plinth with quatreform panel, later decorated overall with gilt chinoiserie against a sea green ground, the 12in. wide white dial with painted rolling moon to the arch and gilt flower spandrels, the centre with subsidiary seconds and date rings (hands lacking), with brass hands, falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, dial and movement second quarter 19th century and associated to case -- 85¼in. (217cm.) high
