The onion-shaped brass head formed of fourteen close-set pierced flanges, at the top shaped to form a flower centring on a bun-shaped spirally-gadrooned finial, and incised throughout with close-set semi-circles and chevrons, the wooden haft of circular section, the central third covered with green velvet (worn), elsewhere enclosed in brass tubes stamped with decoration comprising longitudinal bands of trellis-work, framing cross-shaped flowers, the brass retaining traces of gilding throughout
