Of oval section lacquered in iro-e togidashi and gold hiramaki-e on a brilliant red lacquer ground faintly dusted with kimpun with a manzai dancer beneath New Year's decorations, an accompanying drummer figure on the reverse, the performers' costumes embellished with kirigane and aogai, interior cases nashiji; fitted with a carved red lacquer bead ojime and an ivory netsuke carved as a boy holding a toy horse, signed Kogyoku--3 5/8in. (9.2cm.) high
