The two reticulated doors well carved inside and out with a prunus tree and peonies on one door and iris and another tree on the other, the sides carved and pierced with pine and lingzhi, and bamboo and asters, the back of the cabinet formed by two lacquer panels, each decorated on the interior with the figure of a scholar executed in lacquer, various hardstones and mother-of-pearl and on the exterior with a poem in mother-of-pearl, the two stepped tiers of drawers above and the single drawer in the base carved in shallow relief with foliate medallions scattered on a ground of wan diaper, all within keyfret and dragon-scroll borders, gilt-metal mounts, some repairs and losses--17 1/2 x 14 7/8 x 8 1/8in.
