A KAMIYOSHI SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1825)

The round, trapezoidal-shaped plate has two wide bars with openwork above and below the central opening, bound by a thin bar around the plate. The surface is smoothly polished with a few rust areas--height 7.8cm., width 7.5cm., thickness 5.0mm.

Lot Essay

The chisel marks at the top and bottom of the central opening indicate that this is the work of a Kamiyoshi school artist, most probably Kamiyoshi Fukanobu (1798-1851).
