EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1625), SIGNED HIZEN (NO) KUNI (NO) JU TOSA (NO) KAMI FUJIWARA TADAYOSHI (TADAYOSHI II)

Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), shallow peaked back (iori-mune) and long medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 1 shaku, 3 sun, 3 bu (40.5cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 0.9cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 0.6cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): fine grain burl (mokume).
Tempering pattern (hamon): irregular invections (gonome midare) in nie.
Point (boshi): medium rounded brushed tip (chu-maru hakikake).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): wide, ubu, slightly tapering and with a moist, brown patina; file marks (yasurime): kiri-yasuri; end (nakagojiri): rounded (kuri-jiri); holes (mekugi-ana): two; signature (katana-mei): Hizen (no) Kuni (no) ju Tosa (no) Kami Fujiwara Tadayoshi.

Shirasaya with attestation by Homma Junji.
