A HAND-WOVEN LINEN TORAH BINDER, embroidered with beige, brown, green and blue silk thread, mainly done in stem-stitch, made of four pieces joined together by three brown and yellow ribbons, the long sides finished with a blanket-stitch, one short side with a stem-stitch, decorated with zoomorphic and floral letters, two snake-heads, two fishes after the month Adar, inscribed above in Hebrew mazzal dagim, a sun, birds holding a branch, an open Torah scroll, inscribed in Hebrew and some floral motifs, the letters of the boy's name Ya'akov filled in with human faces and a bird, the other fill-ins of geometrical and floral design, minor wear, minor staining, two small old repairs, very good condition, nice example, especially considering the age of this binder, probably Germany, 1677
