1971 TRIUMPH STAG
Registration No. EDU 784
Chassis No. LD 16910
Engine No. LF 1180LE
White with black leather interior. Right hand drive
The Triumph Stag emerged from Coventry in 1970, being developed from a Giovanni Michelloti styling exercise based on a Triumph 2000 intended for the Turin Motor Show. Technically very advanced, the Stag featured independent suspension all round, servo assisted brakes and power steering. Coupled to a powerful (145bhp) three litre V8 engine the Stag was considered a genuine grand tourer. The styling is very refined with distinctive roll-over bar and hard/soft top options and the model today is recognised as a true classic supported by its own thriving enthusiasts club.
This early example of a Stag was purchased new by the Shute family in 1971 and has covered in the region of 80,000 miles. It was last taxed in 1987 and has not been used on the road since then. Although repainted some years ago the paintwork has started to react and the car will require some re-commissioning prior to use.
