Manuscript on buff paper, 38ff. plus four flyleaves, each with 5ll. of bold black sini, punctuation in red, red circles between verses, double red ruled margins, sura heading in red, (negligible spotting and staining), opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illuminated borders with geometric and floral patterns, final bifolio with illuminated polychrome border of peonies and other Chinese motifs, original brown morocco binding with stamped small lattice design (light wear)

Descriptif du lot

The Far Eastern influence can be clearly seen in both the decoration and the script which is derived from naskh. Similar sections have been sold in the Rooms: lot 69, 18 October 1994 and lot 49, 27 April 1995. The former had an identical binding to the present lot.
